Wood veneer

Wood veneer

Natural wood veneer is thin (0.1 – 10 mm) sheets of wood that are obtained by cutting from a wooden bar.

The resulting material retains the natural color and decorative texture of wood. For its production, a variety of tree species are used, from pine or birch to exotic species growing in the tropics and subtropics.

Sliced veneer

Wood veneer

The veneer obtained by cutting from a bar is called sliced.

In the furniture industry, sliced veneer is used to veneer board materials (plywood, chipboard, MDF) in order to replace more expensive solid wood in the manufacture of both front elements and furniture carcases.

The GeosIdeal factory uses sliced oak and ash veneer with a thickness of 0.6 – 1.5 mm for the production of its furniture. The veneer can be covered with a transparent varnish with or without patina, and also painted with colored enamel.

Note!
Please note that at present, some manufacturers deliberately replace the concept of natural veneer with eco-veneer or modified veneer. Unlike natural material, this cheap coating is a film or laminate, a pattern that only imitates wood. Over time, the film may peel off, and if damaged, the front cannot be repaired. The GeosIdeal factory applies only high-quality natural veneer. View Modelsежит ремонту. Фабрика ГеосИдеал работает только с качественным натуральным шпоном. See all natural veneer kitchens

Advantages of wood veneer:

  • Decorative. The pattern of oak or ash is much better seen on flat veneered fronts, than on the elements of frame doors, and at the same time it is unique for every front. It allows the veneered doors to act as a super embodiment of the room interior.

  • Universatility. There are no rigid restrictions on dimensions for veneered fronts. These doors can be larger than solid wood doors. The step of changing the dimensions of Geos veneered fronts can be different, that greatly simplifies the production of non-standard cabinets.

  • Affordable price. Ceteris paribus, the price of kitchens with veneered fronts is noticeably lower than the price of solid wood kitchens.

  • Stability. The veneered elements of the front covered with a special varnish do not change their dimensions with seasonal fluctuations in air humidity. Doors and linings do not require additional adjustments at the beginning of the heating period and at its end.

  • Reparability. When minor damage to the font, you can restore it yourself with the help of wax pencils and felt-tip pens.

  • Environmental friendliness. For the manufacture of veneer, only natural wood is used.

 Peculiarities of wood veneered furniture

  • Reduced range of modules. In kitchens with a flat front, there are no terminal modules with beveled or rounded doors. However, in principle, rounded doors do not really correspond to the style of modern collections.

  • Model restrictions. Veneered fronts are mainly presented in modern kitchen collections. Classic kitchens are made of solid wood or painted MDF.

  • Some care reqiurements. A veneer kitchen “teaches” its owners to be neat. Veneered fronts, as well as all the others, cannot be rubbed with abrasive materials, scrapers, sponges with a metallized coating, solvents should not be used. Fronts should not be exposed to prolonged exposure to water or hot steam. Regular light cleaning with a soft cloth and soapy water is enough to make a natural veneer kitchen delight the owners for many years.

What to choose: solid wood or veneer?

As follows from the above, the aesthetic preferences of the buyer are decisive: the classic style of the kitchen usually requires a solid wood front, on the contrary, flat fronts made of veneer, artificial materials, as well as painted MDF, are used for the modern design interior. In some models, a combination of fronts from different materials or different colors is welcomed.

Veneer kitchens are an excellent solution for those who appreciate laconic design and individuality. An important factor in favor of veneer is that such kitchens are characterized by an ideal price-quality ratio.

Note:

At the GeosIdeal factory, veneer lining is made by hot pressing using PVA glue (and not formaldehyde-containing KFZh resin, which is widely used by other manufacturers), a harmless material that is allowed even for children’s creativity and when applying make-up. Thanks to this, the environmental friendliness and safety of kitchens with a front made of natural veneer is not inferior to kitchens with solid wood fronts.
