Painted MDF
MDF (abbreviation) – from the English abbreviation MDF – Medium Density Fiberboard (medium density particle board).
This material is made of small wood fibers, almost wood dust, treated with adhesives and pressed into a plate with a density of 700-870 kg/m. cube The use of epoxy resins and phenol is excluded from the production technology (unlike chipboard, where these substances harmful to health are present in the final product). It is important that one of the binding components for wood fibers in MDF is a harmless natural polymer lignin, which ensures the environmental friendliness of the material.
Fronts made of painted MDF
At the GeosIdeal factory, MDF boards serve as the basis for painted doors, for fronts lined with acrylic and Fenix plastic.
The density of the MDF board is 700-870 kg / m³
Painted MDF Kitchens are very popular today. Often, within one kitchen set the smooth monochrome fronts are combined with doors made of wood or artificial materials that imitate fabric, stone, wood of various species. Door and drawer fronts made of MDF can have a glossy or matte finish, flat or embossed milled surface.
To obtain a high-quality coating, 3 layers of paints and varnishes are applied to a sanded and laminated MDF board with a special film: polyurethane primer, polyurethane enamel and finishing matte or glossy varnish. To achieve a high degree of gloss, the fronts are polished. An antibacterial additive Silver defence is added to the varnish.
The coating is applied in a special spray booth equipped with an industrial air purification system, both supply and exhaust. This technology makes it possible to provide a perfectly surface of painted doors, without dust particles and inclusions, while at the same time excluding paint and varnish materials from entering the environment.
Advantages:
- Huge selection of colors (more than 2000). In addition to the designer finishes offered by the factory, you can choose any shade from the RAL K7 Classic or NCS INDEX 1950 palette.
- Smooth and slick surface. Fronts made in compliance with all technologies have an absolutely smooth finish.
- Environmental friendliness. No phenols and formaldehydes harmful to health and the environment.
- The strength of the MDF base. This material is easily processed, perfect for millin; it holds fasteners and furniture fittings well.
- Moisture resistance. Thanks to the completely closed surface and the absence of edges, the facades cope with humidity and ambient temperature, without changing their geometric dimensions.
- Antibacterial protection based on silver ions included to the top coat. Silver Defense is a technology that gives bacteriostatic properties, which contributes to the death of harmful microorganisms.
Peculiarities:
- The price is higher than that of chipboard. Painted MDF is not the cheapest material, but the variety of colours based on it allows you to implement the most incredible design projects.
- Сomplying with the rules of operation of the kitchen. On a perfectly flat plain surface, which is the painted MDF, any scratches and dirt can be noticeable. This is especially true for glossy surfaces.
- Low maintainability. Minor damage to the vanish layer can be polished at home, but chips that affect the enamel layer cannot be restored with high quality.
Note:
While choosing between a glossy or matte surface of the kitchen doors, our recommendation is to opt for a matte paint. Firstly, this is the most popular trend in modern interior design, and secondly, from the point of view of subsequent operation, fingerprints and spots are less noticeable on matte surfaces.
